9 May 2019

Meetings

1

Given the potential risks related to the spread of COVID-19, it is with great regret that we announce our decision to cancel the Indian Ocean Cetacean Symposium (IOCS 2020). We will keep you informed of any further developments, should we organise the symposium for a later time.

Thank you to all those who registered and expressed interest. Stay safe.

.......................................................................................................................................

Marine Research Centre is happy to announce the re-scheduled Second Indian Ocean Cetacean Symposium, to be held in the Maldives in 2020. The three-day symposium, to be held from the 14th to 16th of July 2020, will provide an opportunity for active cetacean researchers from across the region to present their recent research, share developments and plan future collaborations. Key themes will include threats to Indian Ocean cetacean populations as well as basic cetacean biology.

The First Indian Ocean Cetacean Symposium was held in the Maldives in 2009. The past ten years has seen a great expansion of the cetacean research in the Indian Ocean, and this second IOCS will provide a timely opportunity for a regional update. Please click here for Symposium Report of IOCS 2009.

Registrations will be open in the near future and further details including venue will be updated soon.

For further inquiries, Ms. Shahaama A. Sattar, Ms. Mariyam Nazeefa and Ms. Aishath Sarah Hashim will be available for contact at 2020iocs@gmail.com
