Given the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is with great regret that we announce decision to delay the Coral Reef Restoration and Rehabilitation Workshop 2020.

We will keep you informed of a revised schedule and any further developments with regard to the workshop.

Thank you to everyone who reached out expressing an interest in the workshop!

The Maldives Marine Research Institute is pleased to announce the first Coral Reef Restoration and Rehabilitation Workshop [RRW] which will be held in Male’, Maldives from the 10th to 11th of June 2020.

The RRW is a key workshop that will take place as part of MMRI’s coral reef research program’s body of work. This workshop will provide a platform for those who work in the coral reef field conducting various forms of restoration, rehabilitation, and management to gather and share their experiences and findings among peers as well as the broader public.

Day one of this two-day workshop is broadly aimed at understanding the methodologies being employed, identifying parties working in this line of research, and discussing the difficulties that are faced when working to conserve coral reefs of our country.

Day two of this workshop will focus upon the National Coral Reef Monitoring Framework Protocols that have been developed as a way to assess marine life and the use of the National Coral Database as a repository of marine related information.

We invite marine based researchers involved in coral reef restoration, rehabilitation and management including NGOs, resort-based researchers, as well independent individuals to participate.

More information on how to participate will be conveyed shortly. However, we encourage any parties interested in reaching out to us. Please check our websites for further updates. If you have further inquiries regarding the workshop, please do not hesitate to write to Ms. Hana Amir at hana.amir@mmri.gov.mv
